Burnout?

I have been cranking out the articles in the past week or two — eight that I can think of off the top of my head, and a few have really been brain-wrenchers. It’s been a long time since my poor grey matter has worked that hard, and freelance work doesn’t really stop the way other jobs do. I find myself dreaming about articles in progress, or possible future articles!

In other words, I’m beat today. I wrote a few paragraphs of a piece about women’s rights and the Napoleonic code — another brainiac one. Now I just can’t seem to keep reading the research anymore. It’s my instinct to KEEP PUSHING. The money doesn’t make itself, you know? But I also want to be able to keep up the over all pace that’s required to make freelancing my job.

Maybe I’ll just not write anymore today. I want to look over the Freelancer’s site at About.com, and start looking into Copyrighting as well. Some yoga later just to unwind, plus my usual nightly 1/2 hour of meditation. I should make Sunday MY day, when I can do anything I want… or nothing!

  • Yeah, it’s better to balance it out. Yoga or studying languages does that for me. Something I just have to memorize and not have to be really be creative about. Walking! That’s probably the best break.

    • It’s so easy to just get caught up in what you’re doing — the whole day can pass when I’ve barely moved from my desk. It’s the best diet I’ve ever been on, I swear! I have a mindfulness alarm on my computer that chimes on the hour or so just to remind me to stop and pay attention, maybe get up. Even doing a quick chore is a good break for my brain!

      I just have to remember not to ignore the alarm πŸ˜‰
