They call it the “Dead of Winter” for many reasons. As a paranormal girl, I always like to think that because of the shorter days and the fatter, slower humans, that the creatures that go bump in the night are more active and closer to us (the fictional us. I may seem crazy, BE crazy, but I am aware that there’s no such thing as non-human things that go bump. Which I have to say in case they’re watching.) than they are in longer, sunnier times.
Of course, the real meaning is to describe the time of year when the days are short and dark, and growing things are dormant — seemingly dead — until spring. Those of us who love to read find this is a great time of year for especially steamy stories. What better way to spend an evening snuggled up in front of the fire than to read a great story with a hot couple (or hot action — doesn’t have to be romance) and get lost in a warmer world? Hot hero, hot sun, hot tub… whatever works for you. 😉
“The temperature is dropping, the holidays are
coming gone and its going to be that special time of year again! You know the time of year when its cold outside and all you want to do is snuggle up and read a good book? Using the dropping temperatures as inspiration a group of Most Fabulous bloggers have gotten together to create a Fire & Ice Blog Hop. Where we are celebrating Fiery Hot Reads for Icy Cold Nights!
During this hop you will se hot hot hot guest posts, read amazing excerpts and interviews and celebrate hot books with mega giveaways at every turn!!! You don’t wanna miss this!
The hop begins January 28th and it runs all the way through March 1st! There will be blog stops every single day (most days more than one) highlighting the books we covet and the authors who write them.”
You can follow along with all of the great appearances and giveaways HERE!
As for me, I’ll be ponying up both a giveaway and TWO appearances on the hop! The prize is a LOOOONG way off (March 2), but I plan on giving away a $10 Gift Certificate for All Romance eBooks, to give you a change to choose your own literary Snuggie!
My appearances will be:
February 23: Cold-Blooded Heroes Make for Steamy Winter Nights – More of my tedious talk about vampires, but some consideration of newer undead monsters coming on the scene: shapeshifters, mummies, even zombies.
March 1: I don’t have a topic yet. What I’d really like to do here is invite one or more of my favorite HOT writers from a couple of different genres to talk about writing steamy romance.
Whatever happens, don’t miss a day of this event — it’ll help keep you wrong with fun and prizes right up until March!
