Check out my Year In Books on Goodreads!
I really wanted to be able to show all the cool stats, covers and stuff here, but there was no way to do it. So click the link. It was a rocking year for reading!
After a long break, I’m finally back to Thursday 13. I miss doing this every week, just something random that’s fun and I can share with friends!
The first 13 for the new year is: THIRTEEN WRITING THINGS I’M PLANNING FOR THE NEW YEAR! I know, creative, right? 😀
1. Write a number of short stories I have planned.
2. Consider submissions to the Big Houses
3. Consider… an agent?
4. Finish THE VALKYRIE AND THE VAMPIRE
5. Plan and begin a new UF series I’ve been working on
6. Finish and submit ADIRONDACK SHIFT
7. Plan and begin a dark, multiple-book series from my SOOPER SEKRIT KINKY ALTER EGO I’ve been considering
8. Write more in the SHADOWS series by my SOOPER SEKRIT KINKY ALTER EGO
9. Write another VEIL novel
10. Write another THE GUARDIANS story
11. Write fiction every day
12. Consider rewriting two old manuscripts and submitting
13. Get to know more readers and writers without oversheduling myself as I did last year!
There are always a million things I want to do with my writing, but I know I can’t do them all. I’ll be happy with a few sales, a release or two. Just to say I grew, I moved forward, and most of all, that I had fun! Because if it’s not fun, for me, it’s a waste of time.
What are you planning for your writing (or reading, or blogging, or whatever you love) for 2013?
Get the Thursday Thirteen code here! The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others’ comments. It’s easy, and fun!

THE NAUGHTY NEW YEAR’S BLOG HOP is going on until the 6th, with some GREAT Grand Prizes!
Follow along on the IF WISHES WERE SHADOWS Blog Tour, which continues tomorrow — also with amazing and kinky grand prizes, interviews with me, and a special guest blog post on Monday about the state of vampiredom in fiction post-TWILIGHT glut!
(I decided to give up doing the separate Camp NaNo math. It is what day it is.)
Between doing promotion for SWORD OF REGRET and suffering my usual litany of health issues, I just haven’t taken the time to catch up with you guys here. I HAVE been writing fiction, but my freelancing has fallen by the wayside for the time being. It kind of spikes my anxiety not to have any money coming in, but I had a very good month in July that will hold me through the rest of August and maybe the first week or so of September, if I’m very frugal (which I tend not to be by nature.) I just feel like I need a bit of a rest. When I get on one of those manic kicks where I’m working or writing fiction 10-12 hours a day, I just start feeling crappy. Luckily, I can stop… working. *G*
I need to do a word count, because it’s entirely possible that I’ve already WON Camp NaNo (do you win camp?) and not even known it. TVTV is going well, I haven’t touched Adirondack Shift in a few days, but it’s still on the agenda, and now I’ve taken on a THIRD story that I want to submit to Cobblestone Press for Naughty November — in a new genre even! Well, it’s sort of a new genre — there are vampires in it, which always makes me feel more free to write whatever dark stuff the characters might be into. This I learned from writing some darker/kinkier stuff in my fanfic days. I’m not sure how much promotion I want to do for that until I decide if I’m going to separate brands by having a nom de plume, or what. Vampire romance is one thing, but kink is something else entirely.
SO — there’s a new goal: Finish the first draft of THE MYSTERIOUS KINKY STORY by Sunday the 26, See if I can find a beta reader to take a look at it, then finish the FINAL draft by August 31 for submission on the 1st. Wish me luck!
LOL Guess what? I WON CAMP NANO! I had a feeling that all the work I’d been doing since I last updated might have taken me over the line, and I was right. W00t! Now all I have to do is type more of it so I can enter it in the NaNo machine.
WAHOO! I’m ROCKING IT, BABY!
I can’t wait to get my graphic! *G*
Hello, my name is Heather, and I am a Maru the Cat Addict. I have sort of rational reasons for never being able to get enough of this budgy, box-loving marble-cake tabby from Japan. For one, his coat pattern is exactly the same as my beloved big, late lunk The Pig (aka Shaquille O’Neil, RIP). But it’s Maru’s obsession with boxes of all shapes and sizes that I can’t seem to look away from. This Crazy Cat Lady (me) video shows Maru is NOT just a box master! He is a feline Olympian of many skills!
I loves me a good cat video, I’ll tell ya.
Guess what I did? I signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo, the August second cousin to my beloved NaNoWriMo — which I haven’t “won” in a number of years. But since I’m so into writing right now, this is the perfect opportunity to really get a kick in the booty and keep myself going. Working with a group of Romance Divas doing the same project.
That means FIFTY THOUSAND WORDS THIS MONTH. Since I’m starting on the 4th, that leaves me with only 28 days, and that means about 1786 words a day. Honestly, with the pace I’ve been going lately, and barring too many really bad days or big freelance assignments, I should be able to get it done — and that means finishing TVTV and possibly Adirondack Shift Besides!
And here I am sitting here reading articles on sharpening up my steamy scenes, not doing any writing at all. So I’m going to post this now and get to work!
